A New Way to Support CFPD!   Donate a Car!

CFPD is now a participating not for profit in Cars for Colorado .   Cars for Colorado provides a service that allows people to donate a car to CFPD and get a tax deduction for the donation.

Cars for Colorado manages the entire donation process, including receiving the phone calls, towing the vehicle, title paperwork and selling the vehicle at auction.   The net proceeds of the sale go to CFPD to support our efforts.

Good News!!
There is a New Service Available at the
Colorado Fund for People with Disabilities!!

A new option is now available through the Colorado Fund for People with Disabilities (CFPD) for individuals who have difficulty staying under the $2000.00 resource limit to maintain their Medicaid benefits.

Through CFPD, people can set up a trust fund with a minimum deposit of $1500.00 and make deposits from their excess funds to build up the trust. These could be excess Social Security benefits from a relative or income earned on the job. Minimum additional deposits are $500.00 per deposit. With this service, when a person reaches their resource limit they can put $500.00 or more into CFPD and build back up to their $2000.00 limit.

As with all the trust funds in CFPD, once a person sets up a trust account, the funds are considered an unavailable asset and do not impact a person’s eligibility for public benefits, such as Supplemental Security Income or Medicaid. All the rules for CFPD still apply. These are:

  • Purchases for supplemental needs, items other than food and shelter, must be pre-approved.
  • CFPD is an irrevocable trust and a beneficiary’s funds can’t be moved to another trust
  • All funds must be used for the benefit of the beneficiary. No third party can benefit
If you know someone who could benefit from this service, contact CFPD.
